Tiffany & Co. 2020 store front window display — Large stainless steel Christmas tree and integrated LED
01 — The Challenge

Where the project began

Tiffany’s 2020 holiday window display features a combination of Christmas trees of various sizes, placed both outside the store and inside the showroom.
Each stage must meet four key requirements: structural stability, a flawless coating finish on the large curved canopy, smooth surfaces with no visible polishing marks, and a heavy-duty stainless steel base capable of supporting the entire assembly—even under outdoor crosswind conditions.

From sketch to proposal

The tree forms are not merely decorative props, but forged sculptures made of stainless steel and iron, with trunks finished in Tiffany & Co.’s signature blue.
A heavy stainless steel base provides sturdy support for the entire structure, designed to bear its own weight while withstanding lateral forces in outdoor environments.

Raw stainless steel sheet is precision-cut by high-power laser to the required structural profiles. The tree top and tree trunk components are then shaped on a bending machine, forming the smooth compound curves of the finished form.

Biggest tree cap height reach to 3m and the curved parts are fully welded into a single continuous structure, then ground and polished to remove every seam and tooling mark — the tree top surface must reach mirror-grade smoothness before entering the vacuum metallising chamber, and then plating in Gold rose color finish.

LED lighting is concealed inside the bottom of tree top cap, casting a warm glow through the cold of the Christmas season.
